Ascendo Coffee

Ascendo coffee is a coffee shop based in San Luis Obispo. We started with the idea that we could make the world a better place by participating in our community through business. That idea remains at the core of our vision. We are truly humbled by all the beautiful relationships we have formed in our community.

We fell down the rabbit whole of roasting coffee in 2014 and haven’t looked back since. It has become the foundation of our passion for coffee. We have spent countless hours experimenting with roast profiling and rebuilding and modifying our roasters. We have become very confident in our ability to roast specialty coffee consistently well.

In 2015, we moved from our tiny hole in the wall to a 2800 sq ft building two doors down from our original shop. With the help of some friends and family, we did all of the construction ourselves. It was an amazing and humbling experience to build something from the ground up with the help of the community we helped bring together.

In 2017 we got a new name. Ascendo Coffee! Same people, same values, same coffee! Ascendo means “I rise” in latin. Our whole journey can be described as rising up from the little we had when we started. And we certainly couldn’t rise every morning without our coffee!
